FAQ

1) Can anyone enter the contest?

We are seeking stories about post-secondary education from residents of BC (for at least 3 months) including students, past-students, family members, and others. Lucky for you, not every single person is eligible, so check out the rules and regulations for eligibility.

Simply tell us YOUR post-secondary education story. See details of how to enter. Will you be the winner?

2) What are the prizes?

The top prizes are Your Rent Paid for One Year ($12,000) and a one-week Holiday in the Sun (estimated at up to $4,500). But there are many more fun prizes. See the rules and regulations for details.

3) Who will win?

The winners will be those who relate the most compelling tales about their post-secondary education experiences. Be creative, and tell your story!

4) What are the main categories of the contest?

Entries should speak to one of the following four topics:

  • How does post-secondary education transforms lives?
  • What are the financial challenges of being a student in post-secondary education?
  • Who inspired you in your post-secondary education?
  • What are the challenges of being a post secondary student in 2016?

5) What is the Education Gala?

The contest will culminate in a large Education Contest Gala where awards will be handed out for the best stories. The Gala will be held in Greater Vancouver and streamed live across BC. Many local campuses outside of Greater Vancouver will hold local Education Gala parties to watch the results and celebrate any local winners.

6) Who will choose the award winners?

The contest will be adjudicated (by a panel of judges made up of faculty from across BC) to choose the best stories.

7) Why are we running the Education Contest?

We are hosting this contest to help students and families tell their personal education stories. As educators, our greatest concern is our students – how we can help them grow and thrive in the classroom and beyond. We want to help them tell their own stories about their priorities, the challenges they face, and the successes they have, because we believe in the value of public education. In turn, these stories will put human faces to the challenges and successes of post-secondary education.
